Hi, this contest ended January 2009.

What is Your Vision of America?

Is it wildlife or cityscapes?  National parks and monuments or suburban scenes?  Scenic vistas or family snapshots?  Or is America found in the faces of its citizens?  America means many things to many people, and we want to see your best interpretation of what this great country means to you.

Contest entries are no longer being accepted. The contest winner will win tickets to the world premiere of Visions of America by Peter Nero and the Philly POPS at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia on January 25, 2009, and a VIP reception.  Winning photographs will be displayed in the atrium of the Kimmel Center prior to the five performances of Visions of America.  Images may be published in the Philadelphia Inquirer and on the paper’s Web site, and will also appear at other venues across the greater Philadelphia region, including our photo contest sponsor Hendrixson’s Furniture.

This contest is a companion to Visions of America, a groundbreaking multimedia portrait of our country that will have its world premiere as part of the post-inaugural celebration of America’s history. Visions of America choreographs Joe Sohm’s photographs to stirring traditional and new music performed by Grammy Award-winning pianist and conductor Peter Nero, and the Philly POPS. Grammy Award-winning pianist/composer Roger Kellaway and legendary lyricists Alan and Marilyn Bergman (best known for their Grammy and Academy Award-winning work with Barbra Streisand) will collaborate on two new songs, written specifically for this program and performed by Grammy Award-winning vocalist Patti Austin. This multimedia event reminds us how brightly the American spirit burns.
